3 Signs You’re Dehydrated – How to Tell if You are Dehydrated

At least eight glasses of water per day – we all know how important hydration is but do we drink sufficient amounts of H2O?

You need water to be active throughout the day, to be capable of exercising, to make sure your body is getting rid of toxins and to have beautiful skin.

These are just a few of the essentials that proper hydration is responsible for.

So, how do you know if you are drinking enough? Dehydration is relatively easy to spot. Watch for several common signs of insufficient water consumption and make sure you up the intake if you notice any of these.

1

The Color of Your Urine

Whenever your urine contains significant quantities of waste products and insufficient amounts of water, its color is going to be dark yellow.

Proper hydration helps the body eliminate toxins more efficiently. If you are drinking enough water, your urine should have very light yellow color.

2

Digestive Issues

Constipation is commonly experienced by people that drink insufficient amounts of water. Water is essential for moving food leftovers through the colon. Its absence slows the entire process down.

The lack of hydration and insufficient fiber consumption are two common causes of constipation. If you are guilty of both, you will find it almost impossible to have regular bowel movements.

3

Headaches

The loss of fluids from the body will also cause the loss of essential salts like sodium and potassium. They are found in the fluids that the body is getting rid of like sweat and urine.

The lack of sodium and potassium could potentially change the chemical composition of blood. Since the brain is sensitive to such changes, you could end up experiencing serious headaches as a result of dehydration.

The significant liquid loss during the summer, for example, could result in unbearably painful headaches.

The solution is a simple one, and you only have to get into the habit of consuming larger quantities of water. Keeping a bottle or a pitcher on your desk throughout the workday will serve as a constant reminder to drink more.

If you have problems with the lack of taste, you can add mint, a slice of lemon or watermelon chunks to make your water more “exciting.”

      @Aruna,
You may have a health condition requiring medical evaluation. You should see a doctor to determine any issue.
