Pollution, dry air, and the rays of the sun can sap the moisture from your hair, resulting in brittle, damaged, frizzy, and dry hair. If you want to get moisture back into your locks for improved shine, you will need a super moisturizing, intense hair treatment.

If you want silky, hydrated, shiny hair, try one of these all-natural, DIY hair masks. These masks work wonderfully, and they are easy to make with ingredients you have at home. You will get the silky, glossy, soft hair that looks amazing.

① Mask #1 โ€“ Egg Yolk DIY Hair Mask
If you want great volume and natural shine, this mask is the perfect option. The eggs help to treat multiple hair problems, such as hair loss, dryness, and split ends. This mask offers super conditioning results.

If you want to straighten hair naturally, this mask will leave you with naturally straight hair without all the chemicals that come in many straightening products. You will also love the long-lasting conditioning that you get from this mask. Use it on your hair two times each week to enjoy the best results.

  • Eggs
  • Clarified Butter (or Ghee) – check below on how to create a clarified butter

Directions:
1. Place 1 egg yolk and 1/4 cup clarified butter in a separate bowl and mix thoroughly.

2. Gently massage the mixture into your dry scalp making sure to seal the hair ends as well.

4. Let it sit for 30-45 minutes and then rinse with tepid water and wash it off with your favorite shampoo + conditioner.

How to Create Clarified Butter
ghee-1a
① Place butter into a small, heavy bottomed pan. Turn heat to medium low. Let the butter melt slowly. This will take a few minutes– don’t rush it by raising the heat. Low and slow is the way to go! Don’t stir the butter as it melts, just let it be.
② Once the butter is completely melted, you’ll notice a foamy white layer has formed on the top. Use a spoon to skim that foam from the surface of the butter, being careful to leave behind the golden butterfat.

③ Skim as much of the foam as possible from the surface. Don’t worry if a few specks are left behind, you will strain those away later.

④ Remove the butter from heat and allow to rest for 5 minutes. Line a strainer with a cheesecloth. If you don’t have cheesecloth on hand, use a paper towel.

⑤ Slowly pour the melted butter through the cheesecloth. You only want to pour the golden fat through the cheesecloth, skimming away the leftover bits of foam.

⑥ Stop when you run out of butterfat and only the solids remain.

⑦ Pour clarified butter into a container and seal. Store in the refrigerator. Butter will solidify at cooler temperatures, but can easily be returned to liquid by warming.

② Mask #2 โ€“ Mayonnaise DIY Hair Mask
While it may sound strange to use mayonnaise on your hair, this DIY hair mask makes use of the super hydrating properties of mayonnaise. It gives you a creamy, rich mask that leaves hair incredibly glossy and shiny.

This mask treats rough, dry, and damaged hair. The moisturizing ingredients penetrate deep into the hair shaft, moisturizing hair deep inside and locking that moisture into the hair. This leaves hair wonderfully silky and soft after you use it. You can use this mask twice weekly to enjoy great results.

② With a slightly damp hair, massage this mixture into your scalp and to each strand of your hair.

③ Let it sit for about 20-30 minutes and rinse it off with your regular shampoo and conditioner.

③ Mask #3 โ€“ Milk Honey DIY Hair Mask

For hair that is super damaged, the milk honey DIY hair mask is the perfect treatment that will eliminate damage to more beautiful hair. It will offer your hair the nourishment that it needs, and it fortifies your hair as well.

The moisturizing ingredients and essential nutrients that are included in the mask will hydrate every hair on your head, resulting in hair that is shiny, silky soft. You can use this mask on hair two or three times every week.

      hi Nahla,
You need to evaluate what is the cause of your hair loss first, so you’ll be able to determine the solution. If your hair loss is stress related, you can try doing the scalp massage 2 or 3x a week using coconut oil or olive oil.

      @Diya,
Try rubbing/ applying lemon on your feet and hands morning and night (if you have time). This really helps to even out your skin tone. Or you can add some brown sugar and lemon to exfoliate your skin as well. Exfoliating your skin is one way to get rid of the dead/flaky skin.

      04/16/2015 at 3:56 pm

      hi Suzy,
Try this hair pack using henna powder.

      Henna โ€“ 1 cup
      Fenugreek seeds โ€“ 1/8 cup
      Mustard oil โ€“ 2 tbsp
(Just adjust the ratio if you have a long hair)

      Procedure:
Soak the henna and fenugreek seeds separately in water overnight (just add water just enough to soak) and in the morning grind the fenugreek seeds to form a paste. Add the fenugreek paste and mustard oil to the henna, mix thoroughly and apply the pack on scalp and hair. Keep the pack on for 2 hours; wash off with water and follow up with a mild shampoo.
