12 Natural Remedies to Make your Hair Grow Faster

When people ask me why I insist on having long hair despite all of the inconveniences, I tell them that it is a blessing in disguise. To be perfectly honest there are very few upsides of having long hair and if it wasn’t for the aesthetics I’d probably cut it much shorter.

There are many women out there who prefer to have long hair and they are willing to do whatever it takes to keep it healthy and to speed up growth. There is a lot of effort behind every success and I don’t think that I exaggerate if I say that you need to put plenty of work in the hours spent hampering your hair.

The first challenge is to speed up its growth and there are a couple of homemade remedies that can work wonders, many of them being more effective than their commercial counterparts. Sometimes they feel like it is a race against the clock to grow their hair long when they deal with hair loss because you need to offset a significant handicap.

It comes as no surprise that sometimes the first measures are focusing on decreasing the hair loss rather than growing it because this is the first problem that needs to be addressed.

At the end of the day, if all your efforts pay off, the satisfaction of having a long and lustrous hair will offset all the advantages and will remind you that it is worth the trouble.

Main Causes of Hair Loss
The typical cycle of hair growth lasts for two to three years, where each strand grows about one centimeter per month. At any one time, approximately 90% of your hair is growing.

The other 10% of your hair is enjoying what is known as a ‘resting phase.’ After three to four months have passed, the resting hair falls out and new hair begins to take its place.

However, some people suffer disruptions in the hair cycle that lead to hair loss, which affects males and females of all ages.

Common causes of hair loss include

  • Hormonal Issues: An imbalance of male or female hormones
  • Overactive or Under-active Thyroid Gland
  • Pregnancy: Due to high levels of certain hormones
  • Medications: Such as blood thinners and high blood pressure meds
  • Infection: Including fungal infections of the scalp
  • Medical Conditions: Such as diabetes or lupus

Vinegar and Sage:
Apple cider vinegar has a very high natural pH and is high in malic acid and many other nutrients. Since it is a safe all-natural cleansing solution, many people apply it topically to their skin to fight conditions such as acne and dandruff.

You want to use the unfiltered raw apple cider vinegar that contains the mother strain. This mother strain is a rich source of probiotics that can also aid in maintaining a healthy balance of natural bacteria on your scalp.

The essential oil of sage has many valuable uses for skin disorders like excess sebum, hair loss, skin wrinkles, and acne. This oil is an antispasmodic, bactericidal, carminative, antiseptic, deodorant, euphoric, sedative, and nervine tonic so sage is really a big help in improving hair growth.

What To Do:
Mix ACV with 4 oz of water and add 10 drops of sage essential oil. Massage the mixture into your hair making sure the mixture comes in contact with your scalp.

Wrap your hair in a towel and leave the mixture in it for thirty minutes or longer. Rinse and shampoo as usual.

You can repeat this treatment every day, but, at least a once a week treatment is necessary to keep a clean scalp.

For oily scalp, this is very effective however, if your hair is colored or chemically processed in any way, you may want to seek out a gentler remedy.

ACV is highly acidic and can slightly dry out the hair, if this is the case, consider using conditioner to help restore some moisture.
