Another year is over, and it’s the time for resolutions. Let me guess – eating healthier, sleeping more and exercising probably top the list.
You’re thinking about making the new year your healthiest year ever, and you’re excited about this transformation, aren’t you?
When it comes to beauty and making your skin healthier, there are several simple things you can do. Don’t forget that winter is just getting started, which means that your skin is in need of some extra-special care.
While getting ready for all of those fun parties before the end of the year, you should also begin incorporating a couple of skincare essentials in your routine.
Want Younger, Healthier and more Radiant Skin? Here are 10 Important Steps to Follow from Now On.
① Learn Everything about Your Skin Type
Are you still having problems identifying your particular skin type and choosing the right cosmetics? This is major hindrance that stands in the way of perfecting your skincare routine.
The selection of the wrong cosmetic products could be contributing to particular skin problems. You need products that are 100 percent suitable, and that will address the particular issue you have – oily, sensitive, excessively dry skin or skin prone to redness and the formation of dark spots. Identify the main problem and look for suitable skincare items only after.
② Drink Water from a Glass
Plastic bottles are bad for the environment and bad for your skin. To drink from a plastic bottle or through a straw, you will have to purse your lips. That’s one of the main reasons for the formation of wrinkles around the mouth. Instead, drink out of a glass or opt for a reusable bottle with a wide rim.
③ Protect Your Skin from the Sun.
So many women are still oblivious about the fact that the sun is one of the factors contributing to premature skin aging. Protect your skin at all times and you’ll make it look healthier and much more youthful.
Use sunscreen or face cream having SPF each time you leave the house. Yes, the rule applies to those cloudy and foggy days, as well. Sun damage can lead to brown spots, fine wrinkles, deeper creases, and sagging skin.
UVA rays travel through windows in the home, office, and car, so choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen that will provide reliable protection against both UVA and UVB rays 365 days per year.
④ The Importance of a Clean Pillowcase
How often do you change your pillowcase? Get in the habit of doing that more frequently in 2015.
You’re resting your face on the fabric for numerous hours each night. The pillowcase will soon enable dirt and oil to transfer to your skin, causing certain problems. Get in the habit of changing your pillowcase often and consider switching to satin fabrics, as well.
⑤ Be Gentle When Washing Your Skin
Vigorous rubbing when washing your face is certainly the worst possible approach, yet many women will do precisely that. Excessive rubbing when drying off with a towel, will strip the skin of essential oils, cause premature wrinkle appearance and even result in burst capillaries. Instead of rubbing, you will simply need to pat your face gently.
⑥ Switch to a Better Toothpaste
Many toothpaste varieties contain artificial flavors and harsh chemicals that could cause irritation. Perioral dermatitis is one of the conditions stemming from the use of the wrong toothpaste. It is characterized by redness, scaling and the appearance of small pimples around the mouth.
Switching to plain or natural toothpaste will help you overcome perioral dermatitis, plus you’ll be opting for a product that is chemical-free. If you’re experiencing these symptoms, try switching to a plain toothpaste instead, or if you are doing the natural route, you can use this homemade DIY toothpaste.
⑦ Combat Stress
Chronic stress is aging you rapidly, which is why you need to find the right outlet. Stress stimulates cortisol production. Cortisol is responsible for the accumulation of excess weight and it also causes skin oiliness and decreases its ability to fight off breakout-causing bacteria.
Look for ways to combat stress. Meet friends on a regular basis, start practicing a sport, join a meditation class or begin practicing your favorite hobby. Pick activities that make you feel happy and that decrease everyday worries.
⑧ Clean Your Brushes!
How many times have you told yourself that you’ll start cleaning your brushes and makeup tools more frequently? This is a critical skincare essential.
All of those tools you keep in your bathroom —tweezers, makeup brushes, eyelash curlers, even loofahs and other personal gadgets — become breeding grounds for bacteria, dirt, and oil. Failing to clean your tools on a regular basis will result in the accumulation of dirt and the growth of bacteria.
Your skin doesn’t deserve this kind of treatment! Cleaning your tools is such a simple task – you’ll only need to get in the habit. So be sure to wash makeup brushes at least every two weeks with mild soap and water, throw out your loofah after it’s a month old, and disinfect all other cosmetic devices with alcohol.
⑨ Be Careful with Hot Water
We all enjoy a steamy, hot shower now and then. The bad news is that excessive heat is not doing anything good for your skin. Exposure to intense heat dries the skin, leaving it itchy, dry, and tight plus it stimulates sebum production. The heat may also contribute to the breakdown of collagen and the appearance of the first wrinkles.
Control the heat by taking warm rather than hot showers. If you have a fireplace, stay at least 10 feet away from it to prevent all of the unpleasant side effects of direct exposure to intense heat.
⑩ Less is More
How much time do you need for makeup application in the morning? Do you follow the routine each morning? It’s time to lighten things up.
Use lighter products that have hydrating qualities and that enable your skin to “breathe.” You don’t need all of that thick foundation, concealer, and powder. In fact, trying a makeup-free day will make you feel so good, and it will help you discover the beauty of your clean skin.
