Most of us choose to start a new day with a cup of coffee, and many assume that without this magical elixir, they would be unable to perform even the most basic tasks. Obviously, this is nothing more than an illusion and the fact that we get hooked on caffeine and in its absence we get sidetracked.

To successfully get it out of our system, we need an equally tasty alternative and ideally one that can replenish our energy levels and kick start the day.
lemon-water
There is more to lemon water than meets the eye and this seemingly mundane drink has everything that we need for a fresh start. For starters, it is fizzy hence an excellent alternative to soda pop, which is hardly a healthy so this should represent an incentive to make the transition.

Furthermore, the refreshing taste of lemon will get you on your feet even if you didn’t get enough sleep and on the long run, it can achieve results that are comparable to what coffee delivers.

It would be unfair to forget about the most important advantages of shifting to lemon water, such as the beneficial impact on skin and digestive system. Lemon works wonders on dehydrated skin and has an immediate effect on fine wrinkles while reducing blemishes.

Used in conjunction with creams and moisturizing lotions, this refreshing drink will significantly improve the aspect of your skin in no time. Last but not least, it helps alleviate the symptoms of heartburn and increases the production of bile.

Why has it to be warm water not cold? Cold water likely provides a shock or stress factor to the body. It takes energy for your body to process cold water.

Reasons to Start Your Day with Warm lemon Water

① It balances pH

Lemon is an acidic food, but once metabolized, it becomes alkaline. Drink lemon water every day and you’ll reduce your body’s overall acidity. Lemon is one of the most alkaline foods around. Yes, lemon has citric acid, but it does not create acidity in the body once metabolized.

To put it most simply, alkalies help keep the oxygen in our blood at a safe pH level, and this helps our body heal itself, assimilate nutrients and fight off unwanted sickness.

② It keeps skin clear and glowing!
I have noticed this. Hydration from drinking lemon water is great for moisturizing our skin from the inside out. Lemon also contains lots of Vitamin C, which helps with wrinkles and blemishes.

③ It kick starts the digestive system
A big glass of lemon water is a great way to start the day. It encourages the liver to produce bile which in turn aids in digestion. It increases urination which helps purify it. It also helps with heartburn and constipation.

④ It helps with weight loss
I have read that keeping the body in an alkaline state helps people lose weight faster. Lemons are high in fiber pectin, which helps keep one full, longer. They also have a diuretic effect, which helps with water weight gain.

⑤ It helps control the coffee habit
I will drink coffee sometimes, but only if I have had my entire glass of lemon water. Many days I feel like the lemon water wakes me up more than coffee does…

⑥ Hydrates Your Lymph System.
Warm water and lemon juice supports the immune system by hydrating and replacing fluids lost by your body. When your body is deprived of water, you can definitely feel the side effects, which include:

feeling tired, sluggish, decreased immune function, constipation, lack of energy, low/high blood pressure, lack of sleep, lack of mental clarity and feeling stressed, just to name a few.

⑦ It’s a diuretic:
Lemons increase the rate of urination in the body, which helps purify it. Toxins are, therefore, released at a faster rate which helps keep your urinary tract healthy.

⑧ Freshens breath:
Not only this, but it can help relieve tooth pain and gingivitis. The citric acid can erode tooth enamel, so you should monitor this.

⑨ Keeps you zen:
Vitamin C is one of the first things depleted when you subject your mind and body to stress. As mentioned previously, lemons are chock full of vitamin C.

⑩ Boosts your immune system:
Lemons are high in vitamin C, which is great for fighting colds. They’re high in potassium, which stimulates brain and nerve function. Potassium also helps control blood pressure.

Adopting just this one practice of drinking a cup of warm water with lemon in the morning for a month can radically alter your experience of the day. Don’t be surprised if you begin to view mornings in a new light!
