The best part about making your own detox drink is that you probably already have the ingredients that you need in the kitchen. These ingredients are very inexpensive, so for each drink, you’ll probably be spending just a few cents instead of the $3-4 charged at stores for detox drinks.

The great thing about this detox drink is that it includes ingredients that help boost metabolism, burn off fat, lower blood sugar and fight the signs of aging. What You’ll Need:

  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar
  • Dash of cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh squeeze lemon juice
  • 1 packet of stevia sweetener or a tsp of honey to offset the taste (optional)
  • 1 (12-16-oz) glass of water

How to Make It:

Fill a large glass with the water. Then, add the cinnamon, vinegar, cayenne pepper, lemon juice and stevia to the water. Mix well. Drink immediately. This is best taken right before meal so, if you want to balance your blood sugar level, boost up your metabolism or help your body start burning fat, try this recipe. Or you can drink it as a detox as this is much better than the master cleanse. You can drink this mixture 3x a day.

The Ingredients and the Benefits

Before giving you the recipe for this super detox drink, let’s take a look at the ingredients used to make this drink and the benefits each ingredient has to offer.

Lemon Juice – Lemon juice is one of the key ingredients and it contains high amounts of Vitamin C, an antioxidant that helps to fight aging and that also boosts your immune system. Lemon juice helps regulate your body’s pH, and it also helps to regulate blood sugar.

Cayenne Pepper – Studies show that cayenne pepper can help boost metabolism and reduce blood pressure.

Cinnamon – Cinnamon is an excellent antioxidant, it is easy to find and it is very inexpensive as well. Antioxidants help to fight off the signs of aging, which includes offering anti-aging benefits to your skin. This spice is also known to help balance out blood sugar levels, which makes it very beneficial for individuals with diabetes.

Apple Cider Vinegar – Another key ingredient is apple cider vinegar, which contains good bacteria and important enzymes. Apple cider vinegar also has acetic acid in it that could help you burn fat and lose weight, also studies have proven that ACV can significantly lower blood sugar. If you eat starchy foods, apple cider vinegar can help to eat those starches as well while balancing your PH level.

Stevia – To add some sweetness to the drink, making it a bit more palatable, stevia is used. This is sweetener that is all-natural, so you do not have to worry about nasty chemicals in your drink, since stevia comes right from a plant known as the stevia plant.

hi… there are so many detox drink recipe you post like “how to lose weight and detox with ginger”…”with “ACV” and another “detox drink” and now this one, I am really confused which one works best? another ques to you is, are these drinks really help in loosing weight? My height is 5′ 4″ and weight 55 kilogram. I am from India.. I recently gained weight on belly, I used to be 50 and want to come again to 50..is this drink really helpful?? for how long should this be taken so as the result is shown?? as in how many months/weeks??should it be taken?

Calleigh January 30, 2014 at 11:25 am

@Deppy,
These are options for detox drink, because some options may work for me but may NOT work for you since our body/system work differently. However, always incorporate this routine with balance diet and regular exercise to see results. As I’ve said, our body and lifestyles are different, so I cannot give you the exact time frame.

Deppy January 30, 2014 at 11:28 am

another ques is that… isn’t there the need of using hot water and then putting these ingredients later???

Deppy January 30, 2014 at 11:38 am

I am getting Apple Cider Vinegar of “American Garden” brand from delhi, India.. is it ok? also tell me is there the need of boiling/hot/lukewarm/cold water to put the above ingredients?

Calleigh January 30, 2014 at 11:41 am

@Deppy,
Lukewarm or cool water is fine for this recipe as you are going to drink this 1 glass before each meal. For ACV, if possible try looking for the Bragg brand or the raw, unfiltered ACV as this is this one contains most enzymes.

Calleigh January 30, 2014 at 11:42 am

@Deppy,
You dont need to add hot water. Just mix all the ingredients and drink it.

Deppy January 30, 2014 at 11:56 am

thnks so much for replying..bt I tried searching for “Bragg” unfortunately didnt get.. so I got of “American Garden”…isnt it ok? what should I check in its composition??
after drinking this, when should I have food?? as in after 10-15 mins or so after consuming this drink??

Calleigh January 30, 2014 at 11:59 am

@Deppy,
You can try that one and see how it works for you. You can drink this mixture before each meal (5 -10 minutes)

@Jodie,
RAw honey is the best, but we only use honey here to offset the taste so its ok to use regular honey but go easy adding this to the mixture.

Natausha July 9, 2014 at 4:42 pm

I was curious about this drink and when I made it, it turned out with so much heat that it was burning my mouth. I toned down the cinnamon and cayenne pepper and tasted it and it was much better. My question is: does this have to be made fresh or can you make it the night before? I work and there is no way I could make this on my breaks so I was wondering if I could make it and refrigerate it for my lunches at work. It says to drink immediately that’s the only reason I’m asking.
Thanks

Calleigh July 9, 2014 at 5:17 pm

@Natausha,
You can prepare this drink and store in the fridge, but make sure to consume the mixture within 24 hours.
