You eat leaves all the time. Every time you munch on a salad, eat a dish with spinach or cabbage and enjoy one seasoned with basil, you’re eating leaves. However, most people have never heard of consuming guava leaves. Not only are these leaves excellent for healthy hair, but they also have immense benefits for all parts of your body.
Your hair will benefit from the vast amount of nutrients in guava leaves.
You probably already know that eating the fruit of the guava will provide a high number of nutrients, but most people have never thought about the leaves, let alone considered eating them. You don’t have to consume one leaf, or it’s juice to have benefited from this phenomenal plant. In fact, just making a tea from the leaves and applying it to your scalp can not only help promote hair growth but also prevent hair loss.
Guava is rich in vitamin B, and vitamin B can help boost hair growth. To be more specific, it has B3—niacin, B6, B5, and B2. The leaves also contain many antioxidants, such as vitamin C.
It also contains flavonoids, which are phytonutrients. The primary flavonoid is quercetin. It is also an antioxidant that helps boost the immune system and acts like an anti-inflammatory.
① You’ll often find those same vitamins in commercial hair and skin products. Vitamin B2—riboflavin—works synergistically with the niacin and B6 to create melanin and slow the loss of hair.
② Melanin helps keep hair from graying. Riboflavin also acts as an anti-oxidant and protects the DNA in cells that stimulates the production of protein.
③ Hair is made from a protein called keratin. The other nutrients not only boost your overall health but your hair health too.
Fight Diarrhea & High Cholesterol
Diarrhea, high cholesterol, and diabetes all react favorably from drinking guava tea on a regular basis. The antibacterial and anti-microbial properties help fight diarrhea, while other studies showed it lowered the bad cholesterol levels without affecting the good cholesterol levels.
It also helped lower blood glucose levels.
The tea has also been used as a treatment for respiratory conditions such as bronchitis. You can even chew the leaf for more benefits. It helps promote a healthier mouth by eliminating bacteria, aiding inflamed gums, preventing toothaches and boosting overall oral health.
The tea isn’t necessarily for drinking, although you can do that for other healthy benefits. Rather, you feed it to your hair in the form of a rinse.
① Boil a cup or more of guava leaves in one liter of water.
② Once the water is boiling, let it simmer for approximately 20 minutes.
③ Allow the mixture to cool down and transfer to a container ( hair spritzer is the best) and use it as a hair rinse.
④ This is a perfect hair rinse that when being used regularly, can stimulate the growth of hair and slow down hair loss.
You won’t see an immediate difference, but after a few months of consistent use, you’ll be reaping enormous benefits with a fuller head of healthy hair.
